This Short Sleeve Crew in Washed Blue is Nigel Cabourn’s take on that seldom-seen classic of sportswear, the short-sleeved crew-neck sweatshirt. This style is usually rarer than the longer sleeved plain sweats. Originally, they were made by American Sportwear brands during the middle of the 20th century and were often worn for college athletics training and as part of the military PT uniform (Steve McQueen’s cut-off version in The Great Escape probably deserves a mention too).
In the spring-summer Army Gym collection, this men’s sweatshirt is based on a US Army training sweatshirt from the Vietnam War era, featuring raglan sleeves, a ribbed hem, and extra panels under the arms to allow more arm movement.
Like the rest of the collection, this sweat is made in Portugal from fleece-back jersey cotton- giving it a nice, substantial feel. Pair with our Broad Arrow Jogging Shorts in the same garment-dyed hues to create a full Cabourn tracksuit.
