The Mechanics Cap is a tough, hard-wearing baseball cap made as part of the Lybro range of modern-day work-wear. It’s inspired by the caps worn by the mechanics and flight crew of the US Air Force during the Second World War, and is a six-panel cap made from hardy garment-dyed canvas cotton, with a large, top-stitched peak. It’s held in place via a metal snap fastening on the back, which has three size positions, meaning it can fit a wide variety of heads.
Originally created to keep the sun out of mechanics’ eyes whilst they were preparing air-craft for take-off, these tough caps are a bit of an unsung design classic, and although they were first made over 70 years ago, they’re just as effective for today’s tasks.
A unique alternative to a traditional baseball cap, thanks to that timeless design these work well with both work-wear and military gear.
