The Embroidered Arrow Crew Sweat in Washed Blue by Nigel Cabourn is a fleece-back jersey sweatshirt that takes its inspiration from vintage collegiate sportswear. This men's cotton sweatshirt is heavily influenced by the sweatshirts worn during the middle of the 20th century, it features raglan sleeves and a ‘V’ shaped insert on the neck (a detail originally added to stop collars becoming stretched and mis-shaped).
Shape-wise, these are a touch longer in the body than most vintage-inspired sweatshirts around, and don’t have the short, ‘boxy’ fit of a 1950s sweat—meaning they’re perfectly suited to modern life, ideal for jogging and lounging alike.
As the name suggests, the sweatshirt has an embroidered broad arrow logo on the chest. This logo features regularly in Nigel Cabourn’s designs and is a nod to the ‘broad arrow’ or ‘crows foot’ motifs which were used to denote equipment and clothing owned by the military up until the 1980s.
